Message 128: Customer Focused Music Solutions

The image below (courtesy of Bear Hunt) was used in the artwork for Amnesiac and can be found on a t-shirt for sale at W.A.S.T.E. Products.

The drawing above derives from the photograph below of AOL’s Steve Case (left) and Time Warner’s Gerald Levin (right):

This photograph was found and emailed to Pulk-Pull* by Koyder. More information on the merger, perhaps the largest business deal in history, is available in this CNET article and this BBC news report.

your site is brilliant. im working on a radiohead website of my own, and id like to link to you, eventually.

but here’s something that i figured out and thought worked well in your dissection of thoms lyrics.

in the 15th and 16th line from ‘go to sleep’ from HTTT, the lyric reads:

“may pretty horses
come to you as you sleep”

which to me seems to be quite the homage to pj harveys song ‘horses in my dream’ off of her album ‘stories from the city, stories from the sea’. knowing how much they love and respect her music it seems quite reasonable.

anyway, i really enjoy your site, its validated my assertion of their genius. (which no one around me seems to believe)

thanks

…More likely is it could just be a reference to the common “Pretty Horses” lullaby, which goes:

Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry
Go to sleep, little baby.
When you wake you shall have
All the pretty little horses.
Blacks and bays, dapples and grays,
Coach and six-a-little horses.
Hush-a-bye, don’t you cry,
Go to sleep, little baby.

maybe….

but it doesnt seem likely that werent aware of pj harveys song, when they wrote it. its quite obviously a nod.

but maybe pj originally was referencing that lullaby… who knows.

Hello,

&#60vague&#62 I read somewhere once&#60/vague&#62 that Radiohead or at least Thom Yorke were fans of the book ‘No Logo’ by Naomi Klein. I have been reading it recently and I noticed that at the beginning of Chapter Seven there are two photographs of people (one of whom is Gerald Levin) shaking hands and celebrating mergers between big corporations.

That is all I had to say. Thank you.

Adam Burton.
